I wouldn’t believe it if someone told me they were the “world’s only” anything. So I hear you, I’m making a bold claim, but it’s true. I’m going to back up my claim so you can see it too.
Most of the items you see in the store with the USDA Organic Seal on them are actually only certified to the 95% level. This is because things like sea salt (impossible to certify the ocean), water (what we have on Earth is what we get, and it is also uncertifiable) and items sourced from other countries may not be certified to the 100% level.
The European Union only has one certification and anything above 95% is certified Organic, there is no difference in 95% or 100%. If a company uses some thing from the EU they can’t reach the 100% mark. Because the USDA laws will not allow something to be certified at the 100% level unless EVERY ingredient is certified to the 100% level. If a product contains water or salt, or an ingredient from a country without the 100% designation it will never be certified 100% organic.
This becomes very challenging for producers, even in products without water or salt. So hitting the 100% mark is really cool!
But how does one verify they are the “only ones in the world” to be certified something?!
If you are ever in doubt about anyone’s certification you can go to the USDA’s Organic Integrity Database and do a search. This site also maintains global organic integrity for worldwide sourcing.

To search Tallow Balm producers, select “advanced search”
Scroll way down to “Exact Product Name”, (on bottom left on a computer). Enter “tallow balm”. And then select “search”.
Only 3 operations come up. That’s it! Only 3 operations are actually selling organic tallow balm.
But what about the 100% mark?? Now let’s dig a little deeper. Let’s find that 100% gold star!
Click on an operation. Then select “product details”. When you choose this option you will be able to see the level of certification. “100%”, “organic” (which is 95%) or “made with Organic”.
